John Farrelly is an Irish cartoonist and illustrator renowned for his engaging storytelling and distinctive artistic style. Born and raised in Killean, County Armagh, John initially pursued art studies in Liverpool, but left art college to focus on freelance art and writing stories.




My Story
The Author:
Throughout his career, John has contributed to various publications, including self-published magazines like Captain Wonder, where he showcased his Captain Wonder newspaper-style strip—a humorous series about a comic shop superhero. His work has also appeared in 2000AD fanzines, featuring notable stories such as his dinosaur-themed comics. In recent years, he has authored and illustrated several children's books that blend history and humor. His Deadly Irish History series, published by O'Brien Press, includes titles like The Vikings and The Celts. These books present historical content through engaging narratives and illustrations, making learning both informative and entertaining. In 2024, John created Farrelly's Field Guide to Irish Faerie Folk, a fresh and entertaining introduction to various creatures from Irish folklore, seen through the eyes of Fantasius Farrelly.
